Many issues with the Proflame 880, 885, and 886 gas valves can be traced back to a failing EV1 (Pilot Solenoid) or EV2 (Main Burner Solenoid). The good news is that identifying which solenoid is the culprit — and fixing it — is a quick and straightforward process. Rather than replacing the entire valve or valve assembly, addressing the individual solenoid saves you and your customers valuable time and money.
Replacing the EV1/EV2 solenoids does not require breaking the main gas line and the kit is also less expensive than a complete valve replacement. If gas will not go to the pilot or main burner, one of the issues may be the EV1/EV2 solenoid on the valve is dead. You can test this by doing a resistance test on the solenoid with no wires connected to the solenoid.
